Blaque/OUT Report: Trans Military Ban

BLAQUE/OUT REPORT: Trans Military Ban 05.08.25

The Supreme Court has decided not to hear a case challenging the military’s restrictions on transgender service members, allowing the current policy to remain in place—for now. This means the ban, which limits service based on gender identity and medical history, still stands. For transgender people currently serving under waivers or prior to the ban, many can remain—but uncertainty continues. For those who hope to serve openly, the path remains blocked.

This isn’t the end of the fight. Legal challenges will continue in lower courts, and advocates are pushing for legislative and policy changes to protect trans rights in the military. We honor the courage of trans individuals who continue to serve in silence or who have been denied the chance to serve at all. You deserve dignity, respect, and the freedom to live and serve as your full self.
