Terrifying Wave of Violence Sweeps the Country As The Body of A Trans Woman Discovered In Houston
(May 25, 2026)- A woman and her little brother were walking in Southwest Houston and discovered the body of a Trans woman, naked and deceased by the Bray’s Bayou River on Memorial Day. Police reported the victim as being Trans “by their outward appearance.” The cause of death and official identity of the victim have not been released by authorities but Los Angelos advocates and social media posts have indicated that she may be a woman named Persia that had recently relocated from LA to the Houston area.
Violence against Transgender individuals has been an epidemic in the United States and beyond for many years with the record being broken in 2021 with at least 60 murders of Trans, NB and GNC individuals. The numbers have always been too high but have slowly dropped over the last five years. 2026 appeared to be another drop until recently when at least 10 people of Trans experience were murdered in the last two months and the announcement of the death of another woman, 25 year old Jade Roberts of Houston in January. The constant anti-Trans rhetoric and legislation feeds a current of hate and a chipping away of the perceived humanity of Trans community members. These sentiments link directly to the murders of Trans people and our lack of attention or acknowledgement of the peril experienced by a community at dire risk.
