BLAQUE/OUT REPORT 02.10.26: Trump Removes Pride Flag from Stonewall National Monument Site
(New York City- 02.10.26) Yesterday afternoon, the Trump Administration removed the Pride flag from the Stonewall National Monument after the Department of the Interior issued federal guidance on displaying “non-agency” flags in the National Park System, which includes the Christopher Street Park in front of the Stonewall Inn, and was the epicenter of the LGBTQ Rights Movement in 1969. This after the word "Trans" was removed from signage this time last year. Similarly, museum exhibits dedicated to documenting chatel slavery, George Washington's ownership of enslaved people, and racism and white supremacy being mentioned as a motivating factor in the murder of civil rights leaders like Medgar Evers have also been removed at the hands of the Trump administration in the last 12 months. At 5PM, Community members will gather at the site, 7th and Christopher St. in Greenwich Village. The monument was dedicated in 2016 by then President Barack Obama.
